Where can a career in beauty get you?

Backstory:

I left college in Summer of 2023 and decided against going to university, so I started to brainstorm on what I wanted to do, and lashes came up.

I didn’t want to be stuck in education four another four years, especially as I was unsure as to what I would study in university.

 I had always wanted to go into the beauty industry as it aligns with me as a person, so I found Holly decided to pay for my course and ran with it. I fell in love straight away with the treatment and being able to be financially independent as well as the freedom of being self-employed.

At such a young age of being 19 and already knowing what you wanted to go it was a fulfilling and educational experience. I then went on in February of 2024 to do the brow course so I was more well-rounded in skills and could boost my income and education in the industry.

The Lash Master Course:

The Lash Master Course runs one day a week from 9:15am - 3:15pm for FIVE weeks and include everything you need to know and more about being a Master of Lashes. 

I was in a group with one other girl, so we got Holly’s undivided attention, so she was dedicated to developing our skills and helping with anything we were struggling with or answering any questions or queries we had at all.

She gave us mindset coaching, gave advice on how to utilise social media as well as tips and tricks when it comes to lashing that we needed to know such as differentiating treatments to meet specific clients needs as well as giving clients realistic expectations.

She gets down to the nitty gritty of specific eye shapes and which styles would suit specific eye shapes and what you should recommend to the client (although it is important to note this is a recommendation).

She even goes as far to recommend her favourite products and who she looks up to in the industry to give further inspiration and motivation to her students.

By the end of the course me and my fellow student were fully confident in carrying out classic, hybrid and Russian extensions as well as a lash lift and tint after we were made to complete a certain volume of models to prove that our skills were developing. We are now both qualified in lashes and have education in the industry.

The Brow Master Course:

I enrolled in the brow master course on my own and was taught everything from the classic wax and tint to laminations and hybrid brows. There were various models’ holly brought in to build up my comfortability with waxing and laminations after going through theory and understanding the different layers in the skin, contra indications and contra actions (this is the same when looking at the lash master course).

Practice was key and this was made clear to me! At first, I really did struggle with mapping and making sure brows were even, but Holly remained patient with me and waited until I was 100% confident in my skillset to move onto anything else.

I passed, my course with flying colours and can now upscale my business and broaden my client base as I offer various treatments that could be suitable to multiple people. She teaches you everything you need to know about looking after Brows and how to get the best from your clients brows in order to enhance their features, define their face and make their eyes pop.

A full kit is included to start you off and then it is up to you to test and trial different products to find what works for you.

Where am I now:

As a student I message Holly on a regular basis with any questions I could possibly have! She is one of the most supportive people I have come across and a great person to meet within the industry.

Since completing my courses, I have built a client base and am booked most nights of the week- whenever I can work, I am- and have reached a stable financial point at 19 years old. I can plan for my future while planning what else I want for myself in the future career wise and what I want my next steps to be. I went from one client a week to four to six and now I am busier than what I have time for! I am very grateful I love what I do at such a young age and have the time to develop my skills and build up my income while having the flexibility to learn and do other things.

I have my own brand and identity and have just in the last few months started charging more after keeping my beginner or ‘introductory’ prices for a few months. I now have the experience to charge more for my services.

I wouldn’t change my experience for the world and feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from holly who is so experienced in the industry and knows all the tips and tricks of the trade, and I’m excited to see where my journey will lead me.
